What Does Cam Think?

I’ve always been a sucker for burgundy mist, and this is one great looking burgundy mist finish! Aging wise, this XTC is a little bit on the cleaner side of things. There is no real finish checking and the metal parts are very lightly aged. The figure on the roasted flame maple neck is deep and really pops! Other features include Jescar 55090 frets, vintage inspired RV-TE pickups, and a comfortable 9.5” radius.

After taking this one for a spin, what really struck me is just how rock solid it feels. Everything seems so perfectly put together and well built. It just feels great to play! The frets are super smooth, perfectly radiused, and beautifully finished. Xotic’s fretwork really is excellent. But you want to hear about the tones! Well, the Raw Vintage pickups really impressed me. The guitar sounds like a killer T-style, very lively and stout. Tones are bright and authoritative in the bridge, mellow in the neck, and honky in the middle. Like I said, a killer vintage T style! If that’s what you are after, look no further than this XTC-1.

How Does It Play?

The neck is a modern C profile, measuring about 0.84” at the first fret and 0.92” at the 12th. The fret ends are beautifully rounded with a mirror finish. The string action measures just over 4/64” at the 12th fret on the low E string and right at 4/64" on the high E. As mentioned before, Xotic fretwork is excellent!
